Case Study - West Basin Municipal Water District

Outdoor Interpretive Signage Design, Fabrication & Installation

West Basin Municipal Water District

The West Basin Municipal Water District is a local water agency and provides tours of its El Segundo water recycling facility.

The Challenges & Need

Tandem Exhibits was presented with several challenges. First, West Basin needed large interpretive signs that could:

  • Be viewed by 25 guests at once
  • Be easily moved at a moment’s notice
  • Display 3-dimensional equipment props

Second, West Basin needed a solution that could withstand a harsh and salty coastal environment.

The Solution

Guiding West Basin through the whole process, our team at Tandem Exhibits by Presentation Media designed a durable signage system that included a heavy duty frame and footings attached to sturdy utility wheels. A shelf for resting educational props and water jar samples was included in the design. In addition, Tandem Exhibits designed three portable outdoor interpretive signs that could move dependent upon operational needs, and could withstand the harsh coastal weather conditions.

“Signage materials were of highest quality and have proved durable…signs have lasted for four years and still look fresh. Michael’s design work is always carefully thought out exploring all possible options and he is great on his follow through on production and delivery schedule.”
